On Friday, I was pleased to be invited to revisit my old school, Whitehawk Primary, where I was a pupil between 1935 and 1941.
As well as an act of remembrance it was also to mark the opening of the school's wartime trenches.
My wife and I would like to express our grateful thanks to the teachers and staff for a truly memorable day.
We would especially like to mention all the pupils, who put so much work into the afternoon and made us so welcome.
Well done and good wishes for the future.
