Perhaps Bruce Talbot needs new glasses (The Argus, May 10).
He cites the Albion's survey of Sussex's general election candidates who supported the Falmer stadium but said there was "no support whatsoever for the new stadium among the Conservative party candidates".
The Argus saying so.
However, it is true to say every single Labour candidate in Sussex, including the party's five MPs, supports the Falmer stadium.
Celia Barlow (Hove) and Laura Moffatt (Crawley) would not have been elected had they not supported the stadium, while Des Turner (Brighton Kemptown) and David Lepper (Brighton Pavilion) would, at best, have achieved even smaller majorities had they not done so.
The stadium issue has helped Labour win marginal seats and the next city council election will be very tight. Voters will remember John Prescott's decision and it would be tragic for the city if a "no" verdict allowed the Tories to gain control by default in 2007.
I hope all our Sussex Labour MPs and councillors will listen to the local electorate and make this point forcibly to the Prime Minister and his deputy.
But will the Government itself listen?
