Clive Murphy is wrong to criticise the council for introducing a bus lane on the A23 from Carden Avenue into Brighton (Letters, May 10).
This road is not wide enough to be used as a dual carriageway with two lanes of traffic in both directions.
The new scheme maintains singlelane traffic in both directions with the added bonus of a bus lane.
Smart people who travel by bus will have a faster, more reliable journey while motorists face the same traffic as before.
