I read an article in The Mail On Sunday (Sunday, April 24) entitled Now India Is Marking Our GCSEs.
Do other people know this is happening? Surely there must be retired teachers in our own country who would gladly undertake the job of marking exam papers for a modest sum? To have exam papers sent all the way to India for marking just so a pittance can be paid to the cheap, slave labour, which marks them, is abominable and disgusting. No wonder papers go missing or are late being marked.
HSBC, Lloyds and TSB are among the banks which have also capitalised on cheap labour for their call centres, ignoring the British workforce and swelling our dole queues.
What's happening to our country? Have we become a nation of pennypinchers?
Why doesn't the government take money from other avenues to fund our unemployed and those experienced, able people tossed on to the scrapheap?
If the sums were added up again, the powers that be would soon realise, if these jobs were kept on home soil, it wouldn't be long before the country would see the benefits.
