A film made by Sussex directors has been premiered at Cannes.
The Great Ecstasy Of Robert Carmichael, a first time feature by 24-year-old director Thomas Clay, is the only British fiction film in competition at the world's most prestigious film festival.
Film executives from around the world saw its first public screening. It tells the story of three teenage boys in a sleepy coastal town whose lives go horrifically off the rails.
Critics have predicted intense interest in the film as the festival proceeds.
Mr Clay and producer Joe Lang, who met at Bhasvic college in Dyke Road, Brighton, have already secured one of the world's top distribution agents for independent films to sell the feature.
The company, Wild Bunch, were responsible for selling City Of God and Irreversible, two box office hits in recent years.
The Great Ecstasy Of Robert Carmichael was filmed entirely in Sussex, mainly in Newhaven.
