I spotted the same cloud formation while sat on the beach on May 5.
From where I saw it, just next to the pier, it looked like a cross as well but I assumed it was there to remind people to vote, it being Election Day.
I said to some the people I was with it looked as if it was created by a plane contrail and that it may even have been a government publicity stunt to encourage the electorate, who were mostly out enjoying the sun, to get along to the polling booths.
Perhaps not the most environmentally sound advertising campaign but there you go.
It is strange how two people can perceive the same thing in completely different ways.
I still hold with the subliminal voting message though rather than Christian overtones.
