I enjoyed your report on the North-South play-off final (The Argus, May 16) but must take issue with one point.
On the back page and in the report on page 43, it states "the Altrincham fans were easily outnumbered" by the travelling Borough support.
I understand your report should be neutral but simple maths will tell you that if Borough took more than a thousand and the attendance was 2,835 then, at best, the two sets of fans equalled each other.
Knowing, as I do, Altrincham sold more than 1,500 tickets, I'd say Altrincham took more fans.
That takes nothing away from the Eastbourne supporters, who faced a mammoth journey to Stoke and an even longer journey home.
They should rightly be congratulated for their fantastic and vocal support.
However, there's no need to do so by knocking the equally superb dedication from Altrincham's fans a club which competes with the attentions of two Premiership giants on its doorstep, one of which was in a crucial EUFA Cup-place fight on the same afternoon.
Either way, it was a great day out for all the fans and a fantastic advertisement for non-league football.
