The council spokesman you quote (The Argus, May 13) with regard to the recent letter sent to Hollingdean residents about the Onyx incinerator takes the biscuit.
He claims the letter was produced to "set the facts straight", when it singularly fails to tell the whole truth.
Take, for example, the issue of the proximity of Downs Infant School playground, just 20 metres from the proposed development.
The letter intimates that because the roof of the proposed building is at the same height as the playground, the impact will be negligible.
Perhaps the council failed to read the Onyx proposal, which reveals the exhaust pipes on the lorries will be altered to point upwards to protect the tarmac - with the result the fumes will go directly into the playground.
Furthermore, the spokesman's comments that "the leaflet and map are part of our measures to ensure local residents are properly informed about the plans" are indicative of the council's attitude.
Perhaps, if they'd properly informed residents about these plans two years ago, a more suitable, environmentally-friendly and people-centred solution could have been found - instead of now wasting taxpayers' money on propaganda which most residents will put straight in the recycling bin.
