If our native wild flowers are endangered, could Brighton and Hove City Council explain why the St Dunstan's roundabout on the coast road was mown before the wonderful display of cowslips had set seed?
Fortunately, the colony on the south bank of the road was not mown but I suspect this was the result of chance rather than conservation policy.
One of the major factors in the disappearance of our downland flora is that plants do not have the opportunity to set seed for the next generation due to poor management practices.
If the cowslip colony had been vandalised by yobs, we would be demanding they were served with ASBOs.
