Brighton and Hove Arts Commission programme has announced the members of the panel who will select new events for the city as part of its Making a Difference programme.

They are Sue Addis, Brighton restaurateur; Mark Baldwin, artistic director of Britain's oldest dance company, Rambert Dance; Robert Cogo-Fawcett, European director of theatrical organisation Clear Channel Entertainment; Sian Thomas, director of celebrations at Winchester Hat Fair; Alastair Upton, director of the Charleston Trust and Julien Boast, vice-chairman of the Arts Commission, who will also chair the panel.

The panel will meet in early June to choose up to five art events or projects from a shortlist of 25 announced last month.

Each project is bidding for cash from a £100,000 pot and 292 ideas were originally submitted from artists across the city.

Mr Boast said: "I am delighted with the wealth of artistic talent and experience we have in the selection panel for the new commissions.

"I'd like to thank the panel for taking time out of their busy schedules to show their support for artists in the city."

Deputy council leader and Arts Commission member Sue John said: "I am thrilled with the calibre of the selection panel we have for the new commissions and their range of experience.

"We know that their task won't be easy but we look forward to having five exciting new projects for the city."
