I am writing from concern about the gyratory system in Lewes Road, Brighton with particular reference to the exit from Sainsbury's supermarket.

I am a 47-year-old woman, with 30 years' driving experience and, after a recent incident at this exit, I am very concerned for my safety and that of other shoppers.

Recently, on safely leaving this exit to join the one way system, I was cut up by a driver in another car entering my lane, which was empty apart from me, without him having indicated at all.

It happened just as I was turning out of the Sainsbury's exit.

I was being vigilant and had made sure it was safe for me to exit into the correct lane but, just as I was turning out, he overtook me and sounded his horn so loudly that he made me jump.

He not only slowed me but, in my opinion, was speeding in the middle lane and had left it too late to move across to the left-hand lane for Hollingdean.

I feel there should be better signposting in this area - for example, a sign stating the following:

Traffic signals with this information should be displayed at all the sets of traffic lights on the entries to this road system.

I'm sure many others feel the same - an accident is waiting to happen. People are leaving it too late to change lanes.
