Three days before VE Day, approximately 42,000 people bothered to vote in Crawley while 30,000 could not be bothered.
Did any of those 30,000 know what "VE" stood for on that Sunday -Victory in Europe (against Nazi Fascism) - or were they too busy with their ignorant lives to find out ?
If Hitler had occupied this country, it is likely many of us would not be alive today.
-Richard W Symonds, Crawley
