May I through the medium of your newspaper thank and acknowledge Whitehawk Primary School for its 60th Anniversary Act of Remembrance on Friday, May 6. What a memorable and emotional day it was for many attending.
The Mayoress of Brighton and Hove graciously attended with other dignitaries, while Father John Wright of St Cuthman's Church, Whitehawk, lead the prayers and hymns.
Ex-servicemen proudly paraded their standards and a poppy wreath was placed in memory of all who died fighting for freedom and peace. Children had made their own wreaths of paper.
Thank you to every member of the school staff and organisers, not forgetting the side shows. Children, you were a credit to your school.
We shall not forget your hospitality.
-Josephine Harriott, Ex-WAAF, Brighton
