I am writing in praise of the nurses and staff of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
A couple of weeks ago I was taken in on a Monday evening to the medical assessment unit.
I had nothing but first class treatment. The unit has about 30 to 40 beds and it was very busy all night.
Although we were on trolleys all night, we were given pillows and blankets and were assessed every few hours.
The staff were wonderful and followed all the rules for washing and cleaning themselves and the trolleys.
The next day I was moved along the unit to a bed, where again the cleaning and care was excellent.
At midnight I was taken to a ward and they were very caring about waking me up and transporting me to the old hospital to the chemo unit.
I had a lovely room which again was spotless, with the hand cleaning and beds being carried out. Both the day and night staff were excellent.
The catering staff were also very cheerful and friendly and the food was good and well presented.
Nothing was too much trouble. There were three meals a day, with tea or coffee in between.
I don't put this effort down to the Labour Government as they have made it hard for staff.
They should cut administration and give the medical staff more pay. They deserve every penny.
The haematology clinic also was up to standard, again very cheerful and friendly.
So top marks for them all.
