Motorists are being warned to expect Bank Holiday traffic chaos on the roads.
Leading travel information service ITIS is urging drivers to plan ahead to avoid expected delays on all three days of this holiday weekend.
The South Coast is likely to be a particular flashpoint because of roadworks across Sussex, as reported in The Argus.
There are major works on the A23 into Brighton, the A24 in Worthing and the B2182 in Bexhill, with many other minor roadworks also taking place.
ITIS has listed the southbound A23 and M23, and the A22 towards Eastbourne among the worst troublespots.
The area around Bognor Regis may be the worst hit, with the westbound A3, southbound A243 and A24 and southbound A29 all being flagged up.
Because this weekend's holiday coincides with the school half-terms there will be even more people out on the roads,
