In response to Harry Stamp (Letters, May 23), I am frankly tired of the suggestion that when one reaches 70, one should be re-tested.

Who has the most number of accidents while driving - the young or the elderly? Ask any insurance company.

One problem is younger drivers so often lack patience - the one essential thing the older driver has, plus a lifetime of experience.

If anyone should be re-tested, it should the young. I often wonder how some of them ever got a licence in the first place.
