On Saturday May 21, Mrs Kay Brown, a resident of Walter May House, was 100 years old. She received her card from the Queen with pleasure.
At 5pm, she held a party for family and friends, arranged by herself, Karen, her carer, and Gordon, her nephew.
At 5.15pm, she was delighted when the Mayor, Bob Carden, and his wife, the Mayoress, Merle, arrived with a beautiful bouquet.
The Mayor delighted everyone, especially Kay, when he asked for - and got - a birthday kiss.
Kay and the onlookers were surprised and happy when the Mayor and Mayoress stayed quite a time at the party.
Afterwards, we all said Brighton and Hove Council is lucky to have such a genuine, delightful couple as Mayor and Mayoress.
I hope you print this letter as a thank you to the Mayor and Mayoress for helping make Kay Brown's 100th birthday so happy.
-The residents, Walter May House, Brighton
