I could not agree more with Caroline Blackett (Letters, May 30) when she criticises the seating arrangements for concerts in St Bartholomew's Church.

I also went to listen to the Sussex Symphony Orchestra for an evening of opera and the most uncomfortable seats were placed so close together, me and my party were sitting half onour neighbour's chair, while having the row in front almost on our knees.

This spoilt the evening. It would be better if the seats were placed further apart, seeing as it is such a large church.
