I fully support Peter Bottomley's campaign to bring back limited areas of terracing at football grounds.
Obviously, there would have to be strict safety measures introduced at the same time.
I, with my family, have visited Watford and Crewe this season to support the Seagulls and have now vowed never to go to away matches again.
My husband is partly disabled and, as a senior citizen myself, gone are the days when I enjoyed standing in the terraces to watch matches.
At both of these venues, we saw little of the match as every two minutes, everyone stood up in front of us, which resulted in a number of children actually standing on seats as they could not see, even if they stood up. How safe is that?
Complaints to stewards and police got us nowhere. So for most of those two games, we sat listening to the cheers or groans and then watched the goals, if any, on the television afterwards.
It is not cheap going to see matches these days and I object paying for a seat I cannot use.
This happens at Withdean, too. Police and stewards seem helpless despite the fact its a minority spoiling it for the majority.
They should be upholding safety regulations imposed on stadiums. Warnings go completely ignored. Bring back safe standing areas for those who do not want to sit and watch.
