A new business association is being launched in Brighton today.
The Lanes Business Network will replace the now disbanded Lanes Traders' Association, which had become less vocal in recent years.
It aims to promote the popular shopping area, which is famous for its independent shops and narrow winding streets.
Founding member Sue Addis, owner of the Donatello's restaurant chain, said an influx of newcomers to the area had led to the group being formed.
She said: "There is so much young blood in The Lanes and they are very enthusiastic and want to get as many people through the door as possible.
"It was felt we needed a revamp. It is important the area has a voice when decisions are being made and it has people eager to promote it."
She added: "We have sent consultation documents out to all the traders in the area and we have had a lot of feedback about their concerns.
"Parking is an issue which we will be looking to address in out first year, as is Christmas lights, but above all we want to promote the area."
The group's first chairman will be children's clothes shop owner Stuart Wilkie who runs Charley Barley in Meeting House Lane, Brighton.
A party to celebrate the launch of the new group is being held at First Light Photographic Gallery in Nile Street, Brighton, from 6pm.
