Mike Coyle, the last man to start in Brighton Mitre's ten-mile hilly time trial, put in a storming finish on the steep climb of Steyning Bostal.
He got home in a record 24min.42sec and won the event for the third time in a row.
Coyle (VC Etoile) said: "I knew Tim Stevens, who started ten minutes ahead of me, would do a fast time and the result would probably depend upon who was the strongest rider on the Bostal climb."
Stevens (34 Nomads) finished second (24min.58sec). Graeme Stirzaker (Anglia Sport) placed third (25min.32sec) and Sussex pair Tim Mardall (VC Etoile) and Mark Jones (GS Stella) tied for fourth (25min.59 sec).
The previous day, Jones and clubmate John Limpus won the Charlotteville 25-mile tandem event in Hampshire.
They recorded a fast time of (51min.45sec).
Daniel Manelfi (Agiskoviner) and Shannon Durrant (Pearson Cycles) broke away from the pack halfway through the 50-minute circuit race at Hove Park. Manelfi beat Durrant in the sprint finish while Dave Roberts (Crawley CC) led home the rest of the field.
Lee Povey won a sprint finish in the fourth Sussex League track meeting at Preston Park.
Bryan Taylor (VC Londres), who is the holder of four national track titles, won the four-lap race and the devil-take-the-hindmost. Robin Thompson won the eight-lap event.
The Sussex and Surrey Veterans' Association promote and open ten-mile event at Littlehaven, near Crawley, on Saturday (6am).
The South Eastern RC promote an open 25 at Broadbridge Heath on Sunday (6.30).
