Sussex have targeted their Championship game against bottom-of-the-table Glamorgan as a must win in their bid to climb the first division table.
But they could have their work cut out after a first day washout at Swansea, where umpires Graham Burgess and Neil Mallender abandoned play at 2.30pm yesterday following almost 12 hours of incessant rain in west Wales.
The St Helen's ground, which lies on a reclaimed sandbank, is one of the quickest drying in the country but, with further showers forecast for today, there is every chance the match could end up becoming a battle for bonus points.
A shortened match increases the chances of Sussex playing an extra batsman and Tim Ambrose has been added to the squad.
Glamorgan will give Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who they have signed on a short-term contract, his debut. Ganguly will bat at five while the Welsh county will field their first set of brothers in the same fixture for 23 years after naming David and Adam Harrison in their XI.
