On May 29, I took my grandmother to a concert at Glynde Place to commemorate 60 years since the end of the Second World War.
I would like to congratulate the organisers for a wonderful event.
The marvel of the airshow, particularly the Spitfire flown by a female pilot, the fantastic voices of the Welsh male choir, the uplifting English National Orchestra, the lighting-up of the skies by Lewes Bonfire Society and the tears shed when poppies were dropped, made it a truly memorable event.
Everyone who attended, young and old, laughed, danced and waved their flags side by side.
Not only was it a fitting occasion to remember those who served our country but also to remember what great spirit the British public have.
Even though there were about 8,000 people present, at the end of the evening, the toilets were still clean and working and everyone queued patiently and courteously to exit.
We must never forget those who fought for freedom and what our great country stands for.
