Mark Fround (The Argus, May 5) states his amazement the green movement is against park-and-ride - but there is nothing to be amazed at.
Looking at independent academic research on park-and-ride schemes, it is clear, overall, they increase traffic and pollution.
Selling a park-and-ride scheme to decrease congestion without removing large car parking spaces is, at best, a despicable deception.
Park-and-ride schemes have one, small benefit, however. They slightly increase the number of visitors to a town centre. But they do not decrease their congestion.
It's obvious who a park-and-ride scheme would benefit but it is certainly is not inner-city residents.
