In resonse to Mr Parkhouse (Letters, June 6) I can reveal locals will not have to wait long to see Queen's Park pond fully restored.
Next week, work is due to start on clearing out the pond's debris.
Once this has happened, it will be checked for leaks before any planting and refilling takes place.
As the water level declines, the council's urban rangers will continue to remove any remaining fish and birds.
The council has been working closely with the Friends of Queen's Park and taking expert advice from environmental organisations on the best ways to clear the pond and protect its wildlife.
When the pond has been re-planted and refilled, new signs will give information about feeding the fish and ducks.
