I was disappointed Celia Barlow MP openly attacked two well-respected local councillors (Letters, June 6).
Jan Young and Averil Older are hard-working councillors who don't need to apologise for standing up for local residents.
Councillors Young and Older are just as justified in presenting their doubts as planners are in explaining their ideas.
Many monsters have been erected along the seafront in the name of progress.
Progress for progress's sake is something we must be wary of.
Conservative parliamentary candidate, Nicholas Boles, pledged to help pull British democracy out of the swamp of cynicism. In a time of public political distrust, this is a sentiment MPs, regardless of their party, should embrace.
I challenge Celia to work with councillors from all sides to propel the city into the 21st Century.
