Celia Barlow claims the King Alfred redevelopment would bring "world-class" sports facilities to Hove but the plans for the sports centre are pitiful.
No Olympic-size swimming pool, no wave machines, no water slides, no ice rink, no ten-pin bowling, no athletics tracks, no cycle tracks, no tennis courts, no squash courts, no ballroom, no commitment for county-class sport, let alone national class.
World-class? I don't think so.
Little information about the sports facilities has been released by the developers. Karis seems far more interested in the multi-storey tower blocks housing 700 flats. I wonder why?
A pool no bigger than what is there already is planned, plus a couple of extra badminton courts.
I'm sad our MP lacks the vision to see what a world-class sports centre should be but seems prepared to see the seafront ruined in the process.
