Doesn't it say everything about the society we live in that our police force has a helicopter permanently on call, body-armour, submachine guns and can now afford - at taxpayers' expense - £31,000 for taser stun guns (The Argus June 8), while we have to resort to a public appeal to finance an air ambulance helicopter (The Argus June 4) to save lives?
It may well be that the police helicopter is used occasionally for medical emergencies but that is not its primary purpose. So long as the Establishment has its own, well-equipped, private army, us proles are expected to voluntarily fund anything which may actually benefit us.
An Orwellian state happened a long time ago. What next? Police wearing jackboots?
