Your excellent 1920s supplement (The Argus, June lacked only one thing - details of one of perhaps the most famous Brightonians ever, who was notorious the over world.
Known as the man who broke the bank of Monte Carlo by winning an enormous sum at the roulette table in 1892, Charles De-Ville Wells, lived in Brighton.
I have attempted to trace him through letters published in local newspapers, including The Argus, and searching local telephone directories for relatives - all to no avail.
Perhaps, this time, a reader can help find details of this infamous local gambler?
