I couldn't believe the headlines in The Argus (June 6). The council has agreed to cut the size of the new King Alfred swimming pool so it will be a third smaller than the existing one. This is an amazing decision.
I thought we needed to provide more leisure facilities, not fewer. We need a large pool to encourage young people to join clubs and take part in competitions. What do swimming clubs have to say about this?
We have waited years for the council to sort out sports facilities at the King Alfred and this is the best they can come up with for this so-called city's young people.
Crawley has given priority to building a major sports centre. Don't let the children of Brighton and Hove down by providing a second-class pool.
The council has also agreed to more than 700 properties instead of 300 to 400 originally planned, despite admitting there isn't the infrastructure to support inhabitants who would live in them.
How dare councillors agree to these plans despite them failing to meet many of the original requirements. How can the planning department let this go ahead?
The council has let us down.
