The Argus ran a story entitled "Call to cut parking fee for eco-friendly cars" (September 2, 2004) about a complaint I had made to the council regarding the cost of residents' parking permits.
I am pleased to reveal the council has seen sense, thanks to the Green Party, which took this case on, by allowing a 50 per cent parking discount for low-emission vehicles registered on or after March 1, 2001, and which are in excise duty band A or B. (Band A includes vehicles which emit up to 100g/km of CO2 and Band B is for vehicles which emit between 101 and 120g/km of CO2.)
