I was incensed by the suggestion public-sector workers, including nurses, paramedics and fire-fighters, should get special protection under criminal law (The Argus, June 7).
While I agree these workers should receive maximum protection from assaults, why is special legislation required in their case?
Everyone, regardless of their occupation, is entitled to maximum protection under the law. All that is required is an efficient police force and sensible sentencing by the judiciary once a defendant has been found guilty.
We are all equal under the law, let's not forget it.
