Kim Clijsters put the prospect of her first Eastbourne crown on the backburner today as she prepared to face her good friend Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The Belgian former world No.1 is odds-on favourite with local bookmakers to land her 24th tour title but she refuses to look beyond her semi-final against the defending champion from Russia.
"It's going to be fun," Clijsters said. "We know each other really well. When we play each other we play against the ball, not the opponent. We have good practise sessions together as well.
"It's going to be my toughest match so far, so I am definitely not thinking about winning the tournament."
Clijsters, seeded seven, dropped only four games in her quarter-final yesterday against American lucky loser Mashona Washington. Second seed Kuznetsova also won in straight sets against the eighth seed Nathalie Dechy from France.
The other semi-finals pits teenage qualifier Vera Douchevina against fellow Russian Anastasia Myskina or Italian qualifier Roberta Vinci. They resume their rain-affected quarter-final today, with fourth seed Myskina 1-0 up in the second set after losing the first 6-4.
