Not surprisingly, Manchester's local newspapers have received and published many letters recently about the take-over of Manchester United by the US millionaire, Malcolm Glazer.
Supporters have expressed concern but other clubs' fans have accused them of being self-interested in the past and not concerned about the plight of several clubs in lower divisions, which were in danger of extinction.
The exchange became so heated, a representative of the National Federation of Supporters' Clubs intervened.
He wrote that the two supporters' clubs which were always to be found rallying alongside those other clubs in trouble were the Independent Manchester United Supporters' Club and Brighton and Hove Albion Supporters' Club.
A letter in The Argus (November 26, 2004) expressed the gratitude of Wrexham fans to the Seagulls' for their support.
This accolade to Tim Carder and his hard-working Seagulls Supporters' Club Committee is well deserved.
