A web site has been launched to promote fair trade.
The Burgess Hill fairtrade steering group's web site was marked with a celebration at the Jelly Bar and Cafe in Church Road.
Glen Wanless, manager of the bar, who is an active supporter of fairtrade, said: "It is fantastic more and more retailers in the caf market and outside are offering a fairtrade option.
"Let us hope one day fairtrade will be the only option and we can make poverty history."
The web site will give details of the group's campaign to promote fairtrade in the town and shops where fairtrade products can be found.
The steering group, which includes representatives from churches, schools and businesses, aims to make Burgess Hill a fairtrade town by helping raise awareness of how to help reduce poverty by buying products which give overseas producers a fairer deal.
Rose Proctor, chairman of the committee, said: "We would like businesses and other organisations in Burgess Hill to use the web site and to let us know of any fairtrade activities."
To get involved with the fairtrade town campaign, call Donna Conway on 01444 238207.
The next meeting to be held at Burgess Hill Town Council offices, in Church Walk, on July 12, at 6.30pm. The web site address is www.fairtradeburgesshill.ik.com
