A national survey of graduates has found those living in Brighton are among the most unhappy in the UK.
The overall satisfaction rate for people living in the city three years after graduation was 40 per cent, compared to a national rating of 46 per cent.
Out of 25 cities surveyed, Brighton ranked 19th lowest for the satisfaction score, narrowly beating Birmingham.
Conversely, Brighton graduates are among the most content with where they live, with 83 per cent happy about their location compared to a national average of 75 per cent.
Money is their main problem, with less then one in five happy with their levels of disposable income, only a third are happy with their salaries and more than two thirds are not contributing to a pension fund or a savings account each month.
Two thirds were surprised at how much they still had to rely on their parents for financial help.
Brighton graduates also claim to be very unlucky in love, with only half happy with their love lives compared to a national average of 95 per cent.
Half are also discontent with the home they live in, compared to a national average of 27 per cent.
The survey was done on behalf of the Royal Bank of Scotland and questioned 1,220 UK graduates who left university in 2002.
