Councillors Averil Older and Jan Young's comments (Letters, June 13) about MP Celia Barlow's views on the King Alfred show their frustration on the issue.
After all, they were elected by voters in central Hove on a clear promise to stop the King Alfred dead in its tracks. We trusted them to do this and they have failed.
Indeed, they have remained silent on the issue, with the exception of writing letters about Ms Barlow.
Soon, the plans will move from the political domain to the planning committee, where an independent set of councillors will decide their fate.
By then, councillors Young and Older will have missed their chance and failed to deliver on their promise to stop Frank Gehry's design for the site.
This would be a shame. Many of us who supported them on this basis would look elsewhere at the next election.
-Mr Mark Jones, Hove
