I was interested to read (The Argus, June 16) the article which stated plastic bags can be recycled.
Despite having had plastic bags collected on previous collections, and despite Cityclean's own literature - which says plastic bags could be recycled - the last time we left plastic bags for the recycling collection, they were not taken.
I phoned the Cityclean hotline and was told plastic bags could no longer be recycled, as there was not enough room on their vehicles for them.
This, of course, raises interesting questions about how Brighton and Hove City Council proposes to meet its recycling targets if, as is apparently the case, Cityclean's vehicles are too small to recycle even plastic bags, which surely, take up only a small amount of space?
