Findon skipper Nigel Waller has warned the division one title-chasers: "We haven't got started yet".

Findon are the most successful side in league history, having won the title for the last five years, but are in danger of having that run ended this season after an inconsistent start.

An eight-wicket home win against Southwick on Saturday still leaves them 25 points adrift of leaders Billingshurst in fourth place and four behind fellow challengers Ifield and Broadwater.

Waller is refusing to panic because he has seen his side start slowly in previous years and go on to win the title.

He said: "We are almost halfway through the season and we haven't got started yet. Even in the games we have won we have not played that well and I can't put my finger on why. We did this last season and went on to win it so being where we are at the moment is not really a drama.

"We are still there and thereabouts and hopefully we can do what we have done before and get a run together in the second half of the season."

Waller insists there is no pressure on Findon to win a sixth consecutive title and believes Billingshurst are the favourites.

He added: "There are some very good sides in contention this year but you have to say Billingshurst are the team to beat and it is theirs to lose now.

"They are the only team we have lost to and they are 25 points ahead of us so it is going to be difficult to catch them.

"But we have done it before and we know we are good enough to do it again. It would be great to win the title but there is no pressure on us to do it.

"We haven't got anything to prove and we know that the record will go at some time, whether it be this year or next."

Graham Waller starred in Findon's win against Southwick with an unbeaten 74 which helped his team reach a target of 137-8 inside 26 overs.

Mike Burroughs hit 114 as Billingshurst posted 228-3 in a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Broadwater. He reached his century off 100 balls, including 14 fours and four sixes, and shared a thirdwicket partnership of 172 with Shane Maggs (58).

Broadwater earlier made 226 all out, thanks to knocks by Richard Luker (47) and Fitzroy Hodges (41 not out).

A last-wicket stand of 89 between Matt Keen (41) and Dan Geere (40 not out) was not enough to stop Goring slipping to a four-wicket defeat at Ansty.

Goring slumped to 70-9, with Simon Parsons (6-29) doing the damage, before the final pair helped set a target of 159 all out, which Ansty reached in 30.2 overs.

Bottom side Pagham beat fellow strugglers Arundel by four wickets to win their first game of the season. Anthony Misselbrook starred with figures of 5-26 after Pagham chalked up 119-6.

Crawley Eagles extended their lead at the top of division two to nine points with a five-wicket triumph at Barns Green.

Jason Dumbrill (84) and Roger Southgate (41) helped Green post 230-8 but impressive scores from Rashid (74) and Atif (58) steered Eagles home.

Richard Dale (82 not out) and Kevin Thorns (68 not out) put on an unbeaten 152 as secondplaced Henfield chased down a target of 214-7 to beat Selsey by seven wickets. Nic Nolan top scored for Selsey with 50. An impressive spell by rookie bowler Ian Simpson could not stop Burgess Hill losing by five wickets against Lindfield.

Simpson, 17, bowled five maidens in his seven overs, taking 1-5, with only two scoring shots from his 42 balls. Dave Parry also did well in the Burgess Hill attack, picking up 4-27, but 69 by Kevin Chamberlain helped Lindfield reach the target of 130 inside 29 overs.

Slinfold (233-7) beat rock-bottom Keymer and Hassocks with just four balls remaining, Ross Dealhoy (54) and Brendan Martin (48 not out) top scoring.

Nick Campion scored 92 for Keymer in a total of 232-7.
