Pensioners are protesting at plans to extend a pub's opening hours.
Ye Olde House At Home, in Broadwater Street East, Worthing, wants to serve alcohol until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and until 11pm on Sundays.
The owner, Punch Taverns, has also applied to open until 1am on special occasions such as bank holiday weekends, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
But people living nearby are mostly elderly and fear an increase in noise coming from the beer garden.
Licensee Sarah Roy said steps were being taken to keep down potential disturbance.
She said the pub did not encourage aggressive drinking promotions and supported responsible consumption of alcohol.
But people living in neighbouring blocks of flats have criticised the plans.
Hazel Turner, who helps run the nearby Penrith Court retirement complex, said: "The extension of hours would be wholly unacceptable bearing in mind the age and vulnerability of their neighbours.
"Residents experience disturbance with the existing hours in place and I believe the later opening hours will exacerbate the problem."
Worthing Borough Council is due to consider the application at a licensing meeting today.
