As soon as the sun comes out, you can guarantee traffic gridlock in and around Brighton.
I expect we'll see people such as Tony Mernagh, executive director of the Brighton and Hove City Centre Business Forum, and Brighton and Hove City Council leader Ken Bodfish again wheeling out the mantra that only park-and-ride will resolve the problem.
Huge areas of the South Downs would need to be concreted over for park-and-ride to resolve such a problem as over the past weekend.
Spaces for tens of thousands of vehicles would be needed to cater for the increasingly common gridlock. The environmental damage would be catastrophic.
But while I can see pressure being put on our city to have a park-and-ride by our shortsighted civic leaders, I see little or no pressure being put on the rail companies to provide a decent service into the city.
