In response to David Broughton and John Pippard (Letters, June 6) on the proliferation of "yob culture", Mr Pippard hit the nail on the head when he wrote: "One day, hooligans will be old, too."
As a mini-bus driver for Brighton and Hove City Council, I collect clients from Leach Court and transport them to a day centre and take them for outings.
A day centre is nothing short of an oasis in a hostile world, where the elderly find companionship and a respite from their woes.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to send yobs to day centres as part of their rehabilitation so they can see what the future may hold for them.
If we think today's yobs are heartless and cruel, imagine what it will be like in 50 or 60 years' time, when it will be the turn of today's yobs to be old and frail.
Then it will be their turn to tremble at a knock on the door one dark night, when even worse conmen, muggers and burglars are likely to be on the prowl.
