As a regular visitor to Wakehurst Place and a long-standing member of the National Trust, I was somewhat amazed to see the word "acclaimed" under a photograph of the new Stable Restaurant, which opened recently at Wakehurst Place.
A more hideous and ugly building would be hard to envisage.
It does not blend with the existing building and is a positive eyesore as you walk past.
A sea of metal and plastic chairs and sharp concrete angles hardly do credit to what was once the gentle symmetry of a Jacobean stable block.
