I was interested to read Jess White's comments about Cityclean and the topic of them not recycling plastic bags (Letters, June 21).
There is a company called Symphony Plastic Technologies which makes completely degradable plastic products, including those plastic bags, known as d2w.
More than 90 per cent of all plastics ever made still exist somewhere today because it takes about 400 years to degrade.
Why aren't more companies and businesses using this product and why is it not more widely known? It has to be the best alternative to burying plastic in the ground.
It is time for the Government to introduce legislation to combat the problem. A solution ready to go.
