Green Party councillors are playing their usual game, spreading alarm while continuing to oppose sensible and pragmatic solutions (The Argus, June 21).
The city's air quality is just above acceptable limits and Brighton and Hove City Council continues to tackle traffic congestion in a number of ways, including parking controls, traffic management and more bus and cycle lanes.
A park-and-ride facility linked to rapid transport is badly needed to complement these other measures.
But the Greens, while saying there is a need to stop cars coming into the city, continue to oppose park-and-ride.
The danger of trying to have things both ways is that you can end up with nothing.
If the Greens want to be regarded as a serious political party, they should start being serious about their decision-making, particularly on important environmental issues.
-Gill Mitchell, Chair, Environment Committee, Brighton and Hove City Council
