Two peregrine falcon chicks born on top of one of the most prestigious seafront buildings in Sussex plunged more than 300ft to the ground.
The chicks survived the fall from Sussex Heights on Brighton seafront but one of them had to spend the night in an RSPCA rescue centre.
The pair hatched from a clutch of four eggs perched on a nest at the top of the apartment block.
One chick died and the fourth egg failed to hatch. The falcons' progress has been followed on The Regency Square Area Society web site.
This year's two surviving chicks have been learning to fly now that feathers have replaced the white down they had several weeks ago.
Brian Smith, who has been following the birds' progress, said: "This week has not been a particularly impressive one for the chicks as they have both fallen off the building and had to be rescued.
"Although the birds are now quite large, at seven-weeks-old they are not yet strong fliers and if they fall off the building, they cannot get themselves back to the top."
