Sunday afternoon, biscuits and a sofa is the usual setting for this quintessential chick flick starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, but now it has been transformed for the stage.
"It's one of my all-time favourites, I love it," says ex-Big Breakfast host Gaby Roslin, who plays Sally opposite Corrie star Jonathan Wrather's Harry. "But Jonathan and I are very much playing Harry and Sally, not Meg and Billy. We have made it our own."
There are slight changes to the muchloved, original script, such as shifting the action forward to end in the first few minutes of the millennium, and the soundtrack now comes from jazz hobbit Jamie Cullum rather than Harry Connick Jr, but all the good bits are still in place, including that orgasm scene.
"I was nervous about that but I love it now," enthuses Gaby. "It's the first time in my life I've ever had a round of applause for an orgasm."
Although she originally trained as an actress, most of us know Gaby for a never-ending list of TV presenting jobs from The Big Breakfast to Children In Need. Now, though, she is keen to concentrate on an acting career.
"It was time for a new challenge," she says. "But I had to get rid of everybody's preconceived ideas about me as a presenter. I'd like to break into TV drama and I don't think people would accept you saying Here's Elton John' one minute and Oh Miss Marple let me help you with the case' the next."
The change seems to suit and Gaby insistently claims she is happier than she has ever been despite splitting with her Scottish hubby Colin Peel last May.
Although she won't admit to any relationship, rumours have been spreading about a romantic link with co-star Jonathan, who she has been spotted out and about with.
"For a number of reasons doing When Harry Met Sally will always be one of the happiest times in my life," she admits.
"For the challenge, for the people, this is a project which will always be well up there. Jonathan and I got on from day one. Now we're really dear great friends and take the piss out of each other."
