In 1986, so the story goes, this Brighton-based comic found one of the Pan's People costumes at a garage sale and decided she was destined to become a dancer.
She then proceeded to trip up on the first paving stone and fell flat on her face, making everyone laugh, and realised comedy was more her thing.
Good thing too as in 2004 she was a Perrier nominee and was hailed as one of the most exciting new acts.
Described as a onewoman Fast Show, Joanna is a chameleon of character comedy and transforms into a dozen different characters during a one hour show.
One minute she is Mr Timkins the malevolent moggy and the next the whiskers are off and a hat is on and she's Celia, a frightfully repressed, adulterous toff from the Brief Encounter era.
Star-jumping from character to character, there is a child-like sense of being shut in a room with just a dressing-up box to play with about this dizzying, absurd whirl of monologues and songs.
Starts 8.30pm, tickets cost £8/£6. Call 01273 647100.
