How will the demolition of houses, making six families homeless, and the destruction of 35 allotments to provide 900 car parking spaces at Patcham Court Farm solve the traffic chaos seen in the city on Sunday, June 19?
With the tailback of vehicles on the A23 stretching for seven miles to Hickstead and every major road leading into the city clogged with traffic, the only solution suggested by Brighton and Hove City Council leaders is to destroy a beautiful area, which would bring risks to the environment and the city water supplies, to provide 900 car spaces.
Do they intend to concrete over the remaining green areas on the outskirts until the city becomes an urban sprawl from its boundaries to the seafront, or are they going to realise that a park-and-ride scheme at Patcham Court Farm or elsewhere is not going to be the answer to traffic entering the city.
