A second public meeting is being held to discuss plans for a waste site after hundreds of people had to be excluded from an earlier one.
Brighton and Hove City Council has called a meeting about the proposed materials recovery facility and the waste transfer station at Hollingdean Lane, Brighton, on Monday, July 18, at 6.30pm.
Jenny Rowlands, director of environment at the council, has written to thousands of residents apologising for the lack of notice about the last meeting and the small size of the hall which left hundreds of people outside.
Ms Rowlands said: "I am aware some residents were unable to attend the last public meeting because of the short notice and for this I apologise. To make matters worse, the size of the hall prevented everyone gaining access and taking part and I am sorry some of you had to be turned away."
The next meeting will be held in a larger venue, the University of Brighton, Sallis Benney Theatre, Grand Parade, Brighton.
But anti-transfer site campaigner Melanie White, 33, of Hollingbury Road, was disappointed the meeting was being held in the city and not nearer the affected communities. She said many people who live in the area had children and wanted to take them to the meeting.
Mrs White, who has three children, said: "I don't think it's fair people with children will have to get there."
Mrs White said at least a meeting was being held. She said: "They have booked somewhere and given us a time and they have sent us a letter - so at least they have done that."
Representatives from waste contractor Onyx and the council will once again be at the event to explain details of the application.
Ms Rowlands said in her letter: "The city planning team will be represented to answer questions on the waste local plan and the planning application process only. They will not be able to comment on the pros and cons of the planning application itself."
Council officers from Cityclean, the council's in-house refuse service, will be available to answer questions about the depot and vehicle movements.
Anyone who wants to attend should contact Cityclean on 01273 292929 or email cityclean@brighton-hove.gov.uk
